Musical Kick-Off!

Today is the day!!  We will be kicking off our 2012-13 year by singing through all of our fabulous music for upcoming performances and Christmas.  Everyone is welcome to join the choir and we'd love to add some youth if they're interested.  We have worked hard to build up the ward choir and we'd love to continue this effort throughout the next year.

If you ever have any questions and/or concerns, please don't hesitate to call or email me.  And... I'm always available before or after choir to run through any parts you may be having difficulty with.

HAPPY MAY!

Enjoy your month off--I know I will!  The Road Show was a huge success and I appreciate many choir members and their family who were a part of it.  Everyone was fabulous and I "think" had a fun time.  I will be posting photos soon!  Until then, we'll see you again in June...

Going Forward...

I am still in awe of the support I have from all of you. I love seeing my front room or basement full of choir members each week during rehearsal!! Easter Sunday is next weekend and I look forward to performing the beautiful pieces we have been preparing. We have really stretched ourselves to learn new and hard things lately and I am proud of your efforts. We have one more song to learn for the end of April based on one of my favorite scriptures; Mosiah 4:9-10, Believe in God. Hang in there with me for a few more weeks and then we'll take the whole month of May off (Fast Sunday, Mother's Day, Stake Conf., Memorial Weekend)! We'll regroup to use the month of June to work on a fabulous patriotic piece and then summer break for 6 weeks... until Ward Conference at the end of August--I've got another great number planned :)

Easter is Coming...

I can't explain how thrilling it is each and every time I get up to lead the choir in church and see every choir seat filled! I love it!! It also makes each song we sing sound rich, full and phenomenal. I ALWAYS get complimented by the Bishop, friends, choir members and others in the congregation that feel the spirit of the music and enjoy just how good a full choir sounds. So again... thank you for your support and willingness to share your talents.

Easter is around the corner and I hope everyone is listening to their CD and loving the music as much as I do. I am also excited to sing for Kayley Taylor and Lauren Redd's mission "farewells" on March 18. Please continue to listen to "All Things Bright and Beautiful" to help cement the tricky rhythm in your brains which will help us in rehearsals.

Road Show Anyone???

I am coming to my choir members FIRST to see who would be interested in participating in the Stake Road Shows this year. I have been called to direct our ward's show and am currently in the process of getting it written with the help of a fabulous writing team and then I will be working with the other "staff" to pull this baby off.

So... I'm putting it out there to you talented, dedicated, supportive choir members. Do any of you want to participate? Will you participate if I get desperate? I need singers, dancers, and actors in front of the curtain and support staff in the back--sets, props, driving trucks, etc.

If you've never been involved in a road show before they're pretty crazy. We perform the show 3 times at 3 different ward buildings all in one night. We literally take our show on the road! To help you plan, we won't begin rehearsals until end of Feb./first of Mar. and the dress rehearsal in front of all the other wards in the stake is Friday, April 20 and the actual night of traveling and performing for families, friends, neighbors and wards will be Saturday, April 21.

Let me know if you're interested. I'd love to have you along for the "ride!"

CHOIR OPEN HOUSE

Just a reminder there is a choir open house following our rehearsal Sunday, Dec. 18. There will be lots of treats and socializing so plan on hanging around. This is my small way of thanking everyone for the tremendous support and dedication over the past few months as we've prepared songs for Sacrament Meeting and Christmas.

I LOVE my calling and it is mostly because of the wonderful people I get to associate with each week in my home as we sing together.

We'll see you all Sunday and then enjoy your break until we meet again on January 8 at 11:30 am-12:15 pm in my home and start working on EASTER music!!
